Destiny’s Playgirl, bred by Xtreme Quarter Horses, is sired by the renowned Acres Destiny and out of QXH Peptos Playgirl, a successful mare in the cutting pen, sired by Peptos Stylish Oak out of Amaroo Unique Playgirl. She was purchased by Drew and Sally Stevenson in 2024 from Peter and Carolyn Doonan at the same time as Amaroo Marlas Rose, drawn to her proven performance and exceptional pedigree.
Her early career was guided by Hugh Miles, who trained her and campaigned her successfully in the campdraft arena, including a win in an Open Campdraft at the Flinders Classic in 2022. Upon joining the Benalla Stud string, Playgirl was quickly placed into competition as a campdraft mare, claiming 1st in an Open Draft at Coonamble in September 2024 after only a few months with Drew and Sally.
She was primarily campaigned by Drew until July 2025, when an injury to Drew at Boonderoo saw her move into Sally’s hands. Sally has since placed her in both an Open Challenge and tied for 3rd in a Restricted Open Draft at Boonderoo. Throughout her time on the truck, Playgirl has proven to be an exceptionally gritty mare, demonstrating strength and intelligence in the yard as well as a natural talent for chasing cattle outside. Drew describes her as his favourite horse on the truck, a significant statement given the calibre of horses he rides regularly, while Sally admires her toughness and unwavering try, noting that when times get tough, Playgirl simply gets tougher.
As Drew has a lot of resistance to taking her off the truck, Playgirl’s breeding career will continue through embryo transfers in the near future, with the possibility of occasionally using an outside sire to introduce fresh genetics while maintaining this dam line, which they are keen to preserve.
Playgirl is a mare of exceptional quality, combining proven genetics, natural athleticism, and a competitive mindset. Her consistency, intelligence in the yard, and outstanding ability outside make her a standout performer on the truck, while her temperament and physical capacity ensure she remains a reliable and versatile competitor. Beyond her success in the campdraft arena, she represents a cornerstone for Benalla Stud’s breeding program, with her future progeny expected to carry forward the strength, grit, and athleticism that define her as both an individual performance mare and a vital contributor to the stud’s ongoing legacy.
